Shoujo Bedrooms

Animated scene from Little Memole of Cynthia in her long-sleeved pink dress, wearing a white pinafore over it, kneeling as she gives a milk bottle to her baby brother, Lune, reaching out. Her hair is a dark blonde and Lune's is either a very light brunette or dirty blonde. His crib is covered entirely in white cloth gathered below, A plush blue cushion sits on the floor. A wooden chair perhaps with a plush back (looking a little beat-up) sits near the large, open window. A teddy bear slumps in the chair. A small, two-doored closet sits on the other side of the window, against the corner of the wall, with more floppy, old plushies on top, a rabbit, dog, as well as Lune's rattle. Outside, a wooden fence and the surrounding forest can be seen, golden in the sun's light. Cynthia's father chops wood with his axe.

There are a lot of incredibly cute and stylish bedrooms in anime (both in shoujo anime and otherwise, so this page's title is a bit misleading!) that serve to tell you more about the character's interests and personality, while also being fun fantasies and wish-fulfilment for the girls watching and reading who can't afford such extravagant rooms (like the otome-tique movement in manga)... so, whether you're here to get inspiration for how to decorate your own room in the future, see examples of how to express character via settings, or just want to admire nostalgic and charming or lavishly extravagant bedrooms, please enjoy! ♥

Junkers Come Here

Still from the animated movie Junkers Come Here of Nozawa Hiromi's elegant bedroom. She has a curtain that matches the wallpaper on one side of her room, orange with stylized red tulips. The other walls are white. Her bed has whtie bedding with a pink bow print. She has a plain white cabinet with three rows besides her, the bottom rows having colourful storage buckets, while the top and middle rows have books, one nook carrying her bags. Her big, red schoolbag hangs, likely off a stick-on hook. Over the cabinet, she has a boombox, a mirror, a globe, and a teddy bear. She has a coat rack behind her with only a small drawstring pink bag hanging from it. She sits at her desk, also plain white, with three drawers, and a wooden desktop. The other side of Nozawa Hiromi's room, showing the rest of her bed, two silly plant potters with wooden legs and cat-like faces (white centers, blue edges on one and orange on the other), two round hanging framed photographs on the wall, a beautiful black piano with a scalloped cloth covering the top, decorated with even more plushies (mostly of dogs, it seems)... a floor-length window with drawn curtains of a light mauve shade. A square rug in the middle of the wooden floor, it's mostly orange lined with green and red. A little plush seat with a back sits on the floor, with another one on the opposide side of a small, low white table. An orange cushion sits on the seat we can see more of and her miniature Schanuzer Junkers rests on the seat, watching a small TV.A close-up of the boombox, sitting on a rectangular doily, next to CD jewelcases.A close-up of Hiromi's desk, including her cherished early childhood photograph of the last time she, her father, and her mother all spent a nice day out together by the sea... it's framed in a little wooden jewelbox filled with trinkets. A flower-shaped analogue clock sits at the edge of the screen, and a pink cup with a stylized blue and white house, white picket fence, and what might be stylized snowflakes showering down... the cup carries scissors, pens, and a box cutter.

Little Memole (Tongari Boushi no Memole, Wee Wendy, ميمي الصغيرة)

Still from the animated series Little Memole, depicting her very tiny bedroom (Memole is from a pixie-like race of aliens), with its colourful quilt on her bed with a big round headboard and footboard. She has wobbly and uneven, but charming, chest drawers (one engraved with hanging berries), a mushroom (toadstool?) for a side table, a little brass teapot, lights that look like berries, plushies that sit on top of one chest of drawers (a white rabbit and a chipmunk, the other smaller table bedside table with drawers has what appears to be a blue-grey mouse and an warmly glowing lamp with a shade), a light fixture that resembles lily-of-the-valley hangs over her bed.
Another still of Memole's bedroom, from a different angle. To the right of her bed, she has a little wooden window and windowsill. White curtains are drawn around it, adorned with even more berries, matching those on her chest of drawers.

Still from the animated series Little Memole, depicting another view of Cynthia's bedroom described at the top of this page. This view shows that to the right of the window (where Cynthia's father is now speaking through to Cynthia), she has a short door chest with the stylized rabbits' faces drawn or painted on every drawer.

Sailor Moon Crystal

Concept art for Tsukino Usagi's bedroom. This shot focuses on Usagi's bed with a light pink blanket decorated with bunny faces, pink stars, and yellow crescent moons (similar to her 90's blanket, but without the bunnies jumping over the moon) and yellow frills around the edges, and a frilly pillow with the colours reversed from those of the blanket (light pink frills, pale yellow center.) She has two tall and narrow windows with white wooden panelling and white curtains drawn back with light pink sashes. An alarm clock sits in the windowsill closest to the head of the bed. A standing lamp with a pink lampshade is behind the bed. The bed has a brown wooden frame. There's a brown wooden door chest behind the bed, some pink boxes with white ribbons stacked on top of it, a framed picture, and next to that, a white vanity desk and chair. The chair has a plush pink seat, but is otherwise white like the vanity. Perfumes and makeup sit on the vanity. Beads hang off the frame of the mirror. Two flowers and a heart (possibly made with beads or perhaps stitched?) decorate the wall next to it. Even the little dust bin is cute, pink stripes and a yellow bag. There's a low, white, clawfoot table on the shaggy pink rug in the middle of the wooden floor. Light mint green bunny slippers. Some notebooks lie open on the floor, with a crumpled up, torn-out piece of paper next to it.
Concept art for Tsukino Usagi's bedroom. This shot focuses on the other side of the room, facing the door leaving it and the low table on the rug. A cushion, light yellow with light mint green frills sits next to it, likely for Usagi to sit on... a white rabbit plush lies next to it. A pretty chandelier hangs from the ceiling with faux candles. An ornate white desk with two drawers, along with a brown wooden chair, sit against the wall. The desk is covered with little framed photographs, trinkets, and random objects on all levels, and notably seems to leave no space for actual writing, which might be why Usagi's notebook is on the floor... a short white console (like a TV stand) sits, also bearing random items, including a miniature of perhaps Tokyo tower?

Idol Densetsu Eriko

Animated scene from Idol Densetsu Eriko panning over Eriko's room, with pastel green floors, desk with books and a computer chair (pink back), a cute lamp with a pink lampshade, and her bed with pink bedding. A closeup of her round analogue alarm clock as her hand reaches out to press the button on top. Shortly after, she jumps awake, tossing her sleeping dogs off the bed in her hurry!
(Tamura Eriko's late series bedroom.)

Shounen Maid

Miyako's bedroom is very maximalist, with wood panelling, a plush headboard, wooden filligrees adorning the headboard, a shelf above her head (with potted red flowers), and a picture frame on the wall. Drawn orange curtains adorn two windows. A frilly light orange or coral lampshade decorates a smaller light fixture on the wall. Her bed has white (or very light pink) sheets, and a deeper pink colour for the frilly pillows and heavy blanket or comforter. She has four teddy bears in varying shades of brown and one black.
